Where Will 2021 take you

WE MADE IT!

​But really, what does that mean?  As someone who strives to live in gratitude and be positive, I am excited about the new year and all the adventures to come. But it would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the collective grief experienced in the longest-shortest year, also known as 2020.  

After all, in 2020, we globally faced and are still facing a pandemic, civil unrest, cries for equity and justice, and (geo)political instability. ​Subsequently, we have loved, lost, smiled, and cried while experiencing these stressors.  These stressors have caused stretching, change, and growth, in most if not all, of us. But with such growth comes a sliver of residual uncertainty, and many of us have brought said sliver forth into the new year. 

*close eyes and inhale*

Consequently, I feel a little bit uneasy not knowing the ‘what and when next.’ Especially in regards to when next, I’ll safely see my family and loved ones or safely travel internationally. 
       *Being surrounded by those, I love always re-centers and rejuvenates me.
       *While traveling, experiencing new cultures, hearing new stories, and exchanging
         old ones feeds my soul and nourishes me in a way I can’t describe.
So I genuinely feel a little bit uneasy not knowing the definite answer to  "when next?"

I indeed long for that freedom and can’t help but daydream when next, I will be able to roam another content and weave more memories safely. Now don’t get me wrong, I appreciate my loved ones are both safe and healthy! I am just longing for the in-person connection, pre-pandemic freedoms, and the ability to create and collect more memories. Because the events of 2020 have taught us, time is not ours, and even the simplest joys are not guaranteed.

So again, I ask, where will 2021 take you, take me, carry us?

And while I don’t have any solid guesses or answers to offer, I want to remind you that wherever this year takes you, please be intentional. Remember to protect your heart, time, and energy. Be selective about where you spend your time, the company you allow into your spaces, and what you engage in.
