FRITAI
During my last visit to New Orleans, I wanted to eat off the beaten path, and my favorite stop was a solo dinner date at Fritai. Fritai (Chef - Charly Pierre) boasts classical Haitian Street Food with a twist and imaginative cocktails. Sitting at the wooden bar counter, amongst the zinc and colorful décor, and laughter allowed me to, if only for a minute, feel like I was having dinner at my great-grandmother's house in Grenada. It's an intimate but lively nook with a consistently good playlist. The knowledgeable service made from scratch sauces and syrups added a truly special touch to all I sampled. Features: Haitian spirits (alcoholic) Traditional Haitian dishes Music Dine-in Price Point: 10-16 USD per beverage (averaging) 15> USD per meal (appetizer included) Pros Great atmosphere Interesting drink menu Small plates are an option now Friendly service Décor Cons It's essentially one room, so spacing is intimate; it can get a bit noisy. Let me know in the comments if you have r will be trying Fritai or any other Haitian inspired restaurants in the comments.
