The pictures above are a snapshot of costumes from Rogue and Lost Tribe's respective websites.
This year, due to some unfortunate circumstances, after all the feteing, and good times I did not make it on to the road for Trini Carnival. Honestly I didn't even make it to collection (a lesson learnt and story for another day)! However, that did not stop me from joyfully watching on television, scrolling through pictures and scouring posts to see my favorite Character mas costumes, from Carnival 2020.
My choices as follows, were based on the story they told, how in character revellers could be pictured and how the costumes looked crossing the stage:
Bardi (top left) - Was my personal favorite costume from Rogue's 2020 presentation titled Bad Ass. Scrise' the ladies shone in this production, the costume looked true to form upon production and moved with ease on Carnival Tuesday, to the sweet sounds of soca.
MMOBORO (top right), Njagi (top left), and Anansi (bottom right)- Were my three favorite from Lost Tribe's production Anansi. I must confess I appreciated every section, and was very much blown away by Erin (not pictured) for all the intricacies and details (wish I had patience for backpacks). So it was a joy watching the story unfold and the enhanced characters crossing the stage.
Though Carnival 2020 is over for Trinidad, truth be told, Lost Tribe's theme still holds a special place in my heart. As I grew up with my mother, father and papa telling me Anansi stories on many occasions. So with every throwback image I see from LT's 2020 production I hear one of their voices saying, "Krick, Crack, monkey break he back, for a piece of pomerac!"
Oh Carnival how I love you!
I'm not sure which island, or even when due to the global situation, but I cannot wait until we meet again.

S.N. I personally like to classify carnival costumes as either Hot gyal mas, Hot gyal with the Bess gyal finish or Character mas (will definitely explain in a subsequent post).
